. It speaks to an author’s skill of character development when you can pick up book three in a series and feel like you are among old friends—old friends in serious trouble in the case of BREAK THE DARK, but old friends nonetheless. For me, even more than the detailed and realistic world-building, this is the key to the RUBICON SAGA’s success. Finishing a series is never an easy thing for any author, but Lawson delivers an exciting and satisfying conclusion for her characters while still managing to highlight some of the stark potential challenges sure to face the near-future humans set on colonizing the red planet. Highly recommended.

. A thrilling end to the Rubicon Saga. I enjoyed every page of this trilogy, and the final act lives up to the previous entries. All told, anyone who’s enjoyed the rest of this saga will find laugh, cry, celebrate, and despair along with the characters they’ve come to know and love through the series.

. The battle for Mars comes to and end. Cheryl Lawson has lead us on an epic journey of discovery and heartache throughout this series. In this final book everyone learns the reasoning behind the plots and the stress. Loves and friendships are formed and lost. And a new day dawns over the Rubicon.

. Great ending to a wonderful series. Our favorite characters are back, but they are struggling to survive. Machiavellian plots, new characters you’ll love, and fights over a stratified society. Buckle your seatbelt as you return to Ms. Lawson’s colony on Mars. You’ll need it. Highly recommend.

. The finale to any book is always hard and that become intensified if it’s more than one book for build up. But this conclusion really hits the mark. The scenes of the climax are done very well and the author crafts the tension with precision. I wasn’t sure where it was going or who would survive which is priceless for a climax! The stakes are high and the sense of danger follows it! I loved how things wrapped up and it all made sense within the world. All in all, a wonderful sci fi adventure that will leave you feeling satisfied.

 – 4.0 out of 5 stars: A fitting conclusion to a great sci-fi trilogy.

Break the Dark by Cheryl Lawson is the concluding saga in the Rubicon trilogy. It is another great read and continues the trials and tribulations of the surviving characters of the Rubicon settlement. Lawson’s stories set on the hostile environment on Mars is very much character-driven and the reader becomes invested in these characters’ stories. I would thoroughly recommend the whole trilogy, from We Are Mars, to Storm at Dawn through to the concluding Break the Dark.

. This book is the perfect ending to the Rubicon Saga. Everyone in the book has a part and they play it well. I loved the first book, and I adored the second. When I say this book is the best of the three I want you to understand what that means. Everything comes to a head with this book and since it’s played in a toned-down and realistic sort of way it made the characters feel more real, and it made the situations they endure feel all that much more dangerous and hair-raising. Read this trilogy. I highly recommend it.

A fantastic conclusion to the Rubicon Saga. Cheryl took some risks in the character development and it pays off. The epilogue could have been a separate chapter and a bit longer but overall the whole series was very well written and believable. I can really see how some of the future technology Cheryl creates might actually happen eventually.
